GTA VI pre-orders: what is settled and what remains open

Rockstar has now answered the basic buying questions: editions, official prices, supported consoles, preload and the code-in-box format. The launch-day questions that affect storage, performance and timing are still open.

The pre-order window changed the GTA VI record in one useful way: buyers no longer have to build a purchase decision from rumour. Rockstar opened orders on 25 June 2026 and published the launch platforms, two editions, official storefronts, preload date and physical-box format. Those are now fixed reference points. They do not, however, describe the complete launch-day experience.

What the order page settled

OFFICIAL

The purchase:Standard and Ultimate editions are listed for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Official regional prices and first-party purchase channels are recorded separately in the Ownership & Setup Desk, where each figure carries its own platform-store citation.

OFFICIAL

The setup:Digital preload begins on 12 November 2026, one week before the 19 November launch. Rockstar says the physical version contains a download code rather than a disc, so a boxed purchase still requires the full game download.

That is enough to answer whether the game can be ordered, what the two editions cost, which consoles are supported and when the download window opens. It also closes one easy source of confusion: “physical” describes the package and retailer fulfilment, not a playable disc.

What the order page did not settle

Rockstar has not published the download size, installed size, day-one update size or a universal launch unlock schedule. The console listings carry platform labels, but they do not provide matching resolution or frame-rate modes for a useful PlayStation-versus-Xbox comparison. There is still no announced PC date, and Rockstar has not said whether an online component launches alongside the single-player game.

A store page can settle what you are buying without settling how launch day will work.

The useful record from here

The right response is not to fill those blanks with estimates. It is to keep each buyer-facing answer in the surface where it can be corrected cleanly: regional prices in the price record, listed console capabilities in the platform record, and preload, code-region and storage questions in the setup record. When Rockstar or a first-party platform holder adds a specification, the relevant guide changes and its verification date moves with it.
